vanfullersublime asked: Jon Stewart is dead wrong about Christians, as he is about nearly everything. Love your hair today.
I think overgeneralization is a dangerous thing, and you’re right, many many Christians aren’t like that. I grew up in a Christian church. If we are gonna look at religion in the United States though, we came from a Protestant background and a good deal of our societal attitudes are still based off of that religious background. There are Christian ‘extremists,’ same way there are extremists in every religion. I think those are the group Jon Stewart was referring to, not the religion in general.
The difference in the United States though, is that typically Christians are placed in positions of political power over any other religion. Eighty five percent of the Senate is Christian, as opposed to seventy nine percent of the population. The same trend is repeated in the HOR. I don’t think it’s a jump to say that there could possibly be a religious agenda there… I mean how could there not be? It’d be the same if it were any other religion that had the majority in our government, but we’re not there yet.
Also my hair be lookin like shit today. But thanks.
